The Shift in Consciousness - 2012

The purpose of this article is to make available (to the best of my ability and current understanding) some of the information which is coming strong and fast from books, spiritual websites and the media relating to the nature and evolution of consciousness and the transformative process we are going through at this moment in time.  There is an overwhelming amount of material available from various sources about some kind of extraordinary evolutionary change occurring presently, and though differing in the perception of the how and why, these sources present many synchronicities and striking parallels that can no longer be ignored.  I personally feel that the signs are too strong to remain silent. I hope that this article which I wrote under the guidance of my intuitive self will provide opportunities for a deeply transformative experience.

Before going any further, I would like to stress at this point that my intention in writing this article is not to challenge any existing systems of belief but to briefly look at some background data and share my findings – though some lie beyond rational analysis - with those who like me are interested in discovering what is/may be happening.  It is not easy to write about something as major as this – first because of the significance of the subject, secondly because of the plethora of information and disinformation available and thirdly because of humanity’s propensity for misconstruction and mass panic - and I am most thankful for all the spiritual insight and support I have received and without which this article would not be.  My intent is not to instill fear and anxiety in a world already full of fear and anxiety, quite the contrary, especially as there is nothing to be fearful of and everything to be joyful for. It is my hope that the reading of this article will uplift, inspire and allow to put the smaller pictures into the bigger one during these amazing but particularly testing times.  I am quite aware that there is a great deal of information to absorb all at once but I personally think that it would be a great shame to find out only too late about what may possibly be one of the greatest events in the history of mankind. 

This is an article to be read with the intelligence of one’s heart, absorbing what resonates with one’s innermost feelings and releasing what does not.  I do not expect anyone to accept something as Truth if it is not in alignment with his/her Divine Plan. Truth is given to us at different levels.  We are only open to what we can understand. What is beyond our understanding cannot be processed.  And whether one will allow all or only some of the contents of this article to percolate through or whether one will reject them outright as belonging at best to the realm of science-fiction, the fact remains that more and more scientific evidence is fast coming to light to substantiate that a spiritual transformation is occurring in line with the 2012 theories/predictions.  “Everything was put into a particular awareness so that in a point in time when our technology would start to accelerate exponentially, we would be able to start understanding all of this. A totally new context for human life is manifesting in our lifetime and with it the possibility of moving from a state of duality (separation, isolation, and bondage) to one of non-duality (oneness).  Humanity is finally awakening and an increasing number of people are beginning to remember who they are and what their purpose on earth is. 

We suffer because we perceive ourselves as separate from the source, as separate from love; we feel that we are not one with all that is, with each other and with nature. Separation creates fear. Separation is an illusion and so is fear. The veil of Maya (illusion) cloaks our perceptions and prevents us from seeing what truly is. Maya cultivates the illusion of separateness from divine consciousness. ‘This maya is like a cloud. The sun cannot be seen on account of a thin patch of cloud; when that disappears one sees the sun’ – Sri Ramakrishna.  If humanity wants a future on this planet it needs to transcend all borders of separation; it needs to develop a sense of universal responsibility and recognize the interbeing-ness of all that is.

Throughout the ages, world religions have been announcing the coming of a time when the earth will be purified and healed from all the wounds inflicted upon her by humanity and there is now much to indicate that this time is coming.  Working my way through the specialized terminology of astrophysics, spiritual metaphysics and esoteric texts, I was able to discover much about one of the most exciting and relevant topics of our time – the fast approaching date of 21 December 2012 which brings all the different scenarios of World end theories sharply into focus as the date when the quantum shift in the consciousness of humanity from the third to the fourth dimension will either take place or reach a critical mass.  The basis of this event lies in the Mayan calendar – “2012 is not a fanciful creation of New Age writers, but is based on a century of academic trial and tribulation, reconstructing the correlation of the Maya calendar with our own Gregorian calendar. This work involved correlating the base date of the 13-baktun cycle of the Long Count calendar with a Julian Day number corresponding to a Gregorian date. The work was accomplished through many decades of interdisciplinary effort, comparing evidence from astronomy, surviving Maya codices, ethnography, hieroglyphic statements on Creation Monuments, and iconography” – John Major Jenkins.  The Mayan calendar is the most accurate calendar in existence and since it pinpointed with absolute precision the two Venus transits, it is now widely believed that the future date of 21 December 2012 which marks the end of the calendar will also be a time when humanity will change forever.  The Mayans like the old Vedic people have a cyclic notion of time - time is not seen as a straight line and the past as something to be transcended.  Evolution is not linear; everything moves in a circle and repeats itself. Time is cyclic rather than chronological, and it is also degenerative.  We are presently at the end of the Great 25,920 cycle that the Mayans and other ancient cultures were focused on and at the beginning of another one.
  
There are some very interesting parallels to be drawn between these 2012 indigenous prophecies and other predictions as those found in the Bible’s Book of Revelation, in the visions of the psychics Edgar Cayce and Nostradamus, in the sightings of the Mother Mary at Medugorje, Yugoslavia, in the Vedic teachings of the Kali Yuga, in the coming of the astrological Aquarian Age, in the time of the sixth sun (Aztecs), in the Hopi prediction of a 25 year purification period occurring before the 4th and 5th World, in the stone calendar of the Egyptian Great Pyramid, in the Zulu belief that the whole planet will flip over, etc.

According to some Hindu scriptures, the earth is presently in the last and most negative of four evolutionary yugic epochs of time.  Kali Yuga (the Age of Iron) which is also known as the Age of Darkness/ignorance represents a time when the light of spirit is at its dimmest in the whole world, a time of evil and injustice in which people have lost touch with their inner selves and have become totally estranged from God. Kali Yuga marks the natural ending of the world as we know it and the return of a state of paradise on earth. The age of Satya Yuga (the Age of Truth) in which falsehood has no place will soon prevail again. “And Markandeya said: Listen, O monarch, to all that has been seen and heard by me, and to all, O king of kings, that hath been known to me by intuition from the grace of the God of gods! O bull of the Bharata race, listen to me as I narrate the future history of the world during the sinful age. O bull of the Bharata race, in the Krita age, everything was free from deceit and guile and avarice and covetousness; and morality like a bull was among men, with all the four legs complete. In the Treta age sin took away one of these legs and morality had three legs. In the Dwapara, sin and morality are mixed half and half, and accordingly morality is said to have two legs only. In the dark age (of Kali), O thou best of the Bharata race, morality mixed with three parts of sin liveth by the side of men. Accordingly morality then is said to wait on men, with only a fourth part of itself remaining. Know, O Yudhishthira that the period of life, the energy, intellect and the physical strength of men decrease in every Yuga!”  - The Mahabharata Vana Parva, Section CLXXXIX, translated by Sri Kisari Mohan Ganguli. “The Age of Kali for the Hindu is the natural ending of the world in the fourth age. It is one of a series of changes, each of which marks the end of one cycle and the beginning of another creation. The central figure in the story is Vishnu, the preserver God, into whose self the world is absorbed before being born again. Vishnu has already saved humanity on a number of occasions, symbolically appearing as a savior in many different forms. Vishnu incarnates in 10 avatars, of which there have been 9, the last three have been: 7. Rama 8. Krishna 9. Buddha It is said that He will appear again , as Kalki 'the avenger', riding a white horse , destined to destroy the present world (the corrupt age of the goddess Kali) and to take humanity to a different, higher plane (the golden age of Krita).”
